1. NetFlorist is the oldest ecommerce company in South Africa. They’ve been around since 1999.
2. NetFlorist was accidentally founded when three friends (Ryan Bacher, Lawrence Brick and Jonathan Hackner) experimented with online retail. They were asked to build an online test store for the South Africa wholesale giant Makro to showcase the possibilities of online retail.
3. The online test store was launched on Valentine’s Day in 1999 and was meant to close after a few days, but NetFlorist ended up making R30,000 in its first month.
4. As the company matured, the company made the important transition from internet start-up to retailer, and had to consequently learn key retailing theories such as margin and mark-up.
5. Over the years NetFlorist has become a household name as the largest flower and gifting supplier in South Africa.
6. The company does 2000 deliveries per day, Floral arrangements and flowers are delivered same day if ordered before 12 noon.

Gift deliveries vary depending on area which range from Pretoria and London all the way through to Cape Town and Sydney If you live in Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg, Manchester or Melbourne you have access to the best in floral arrangements and gifts. You reap the same rewards as you would if you resided in one of the larger spots in South Africa, the UK or Australia.
8. The online retailer has distributed over 2,5 million gifts and flower packages via its own hubs and supplier network.
9. Non-floral products now makes up almost half of NetFlorist’s business.
10. The retailer sources 70% of its flowers in South Africa and the other 30% from the rest of Africa.
11. Their international reach stretches as far as UK, Australia, USA and the rest of the globe.
12. NetFlorist caters for occasions like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Teacher’s Day, Grandparents’ Day, Boss’s Day, Christmas, Secretary’s Day, Birthdays, Anniversaries and more.
