In case you did not know, Punkfontein is a punk rock quartet hailing from the Western outskirts of Gauteng formed by a lifelong friendship spanning well over a decade.
Their music hails from a post teenage angst era boasts a message of inspiration and positivity. They have a fun and free writing style based on stories, experience and tragedies endured and overcome.
The band consists of Gareth Meyer (guitar and vocals); Hugene Koekemoer (bass and vocals); Eben du Preez (lead guitar) and Chris Kennedy on drums.
There’s probably a lot that you don’t know about this band, but today my aim is to change that…

1. Gareth Meyer will eat literally anything. He says if it looks good … eat it!
2. One of the band’s members is almost 5 years sober.
3. Chris Kennedy thinks being in a band is the most interesting thing about him.
4. Chris can however also snap two fingers on each hand.
5. Eben Du Preez is a hardworking and dedicated business owner.
6. Eben has also always been into music and friends.
7. Hugene Koekemoer gets withdrawals if he does not go for a run in 3 days.
8. Hugene also once played a sold-out show with a kid scrolling through Facebook during the set.
9. Punkfontein’s members have been part of the music industry for some time, performing in bands such as Old Brown And The Sherries, Barking Trees, and Scarlotte Will.
10. 3 out of 4 of the Punkfontein members have been friends since 2004.
