1. Tom Cruise (full name Thomas Cruise Mapother IV) was born on the 3rd of July 1962 in Syracuse, New York in the USA.
2. He has won three Golden Globe Awards – for Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire and Magnolia. He has never won an Academy Award, but he has been nominated a few times.
3. He’s long wanted to film a movie in space—and in fact, a real project with NASA and SpaceX is in development to send Cruise to the International Space Station.
4. He has been married three times. He wed actress Mimi Rogers in 1987 (they divorced in 1990), then Nicole Kidman in 1990 (divorced 2001), and Katie Holmes in 2006 (divorced 2012). Cruise and Kidman adopted two children (daughter Isabella and son Connor), and he has a daughter, Suri, with Katie Holmes.
5. Tom Cruise grew up moving frequently – born in Syracuse, NY, he lived in Canada and then in Kentucky/New Jersey after his parents divorced when he was 11.
